The second in a series of three seminars with hit writer Ralph Murphy, VP ASCAP A real application of creative techniques. Students will bring in a new song, preferably first verse and chorus only and have it reviewed using the techniques from session 101.

Steven has played guitar and toured with The Judds, Randy Travis and Alison Brown. His session playing includes artists Trisha Yearwood, Kathy Mattea, Hal Ketchum and Jim Lauderdale. This is an interactive, hands on workshop. The focus is on Learning new skills you can use NOW. Workshop topics include: Right-Hand Rhythms Creative Ideas For Using Capos Alternative Guitar Tunings Basic Music Theory (intro to the Nashville Number System) IMPORTANT **Workshop Requirements Intermediate Level guitar playing Bring an acoustic guitar, capo and notebook Recording devices are permitted -------------------------------------------------- “Cool Tools & Techniques for Songwriters” Benny Gallagher presents a one-hour workshop exploring “Tools and Techniques” to help Songwriters overcome "Writers Block" - "Repetition of Style" - "Getting stuck in a Rut" and "Lack of Motivation". Benny has written for many artists including Don Williams ‘Stay Young’, Art Garfunkel ‘Breakaway’, Simon & Garfunkel ‘A Heart In New York’. Denise was also Executive Producer of Music for the award-winning film, “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” This seminar would try to answer the question of who needs management (or what other professionals might better meet your needs), when you need management, why you need management and what typical financial terms are. What managers look for in artists and what artists should want in a manager will also be discussed. Chris Difford On Song Writing. As one half of the song writing team from Squeeze, Chris has is responsible for some of the most loved pop tunes of the 80’s including, ‘Tempted’ ‘Up The Junction’ ‘Cool For Cats’ and ‘Black Coffee In Bed’. He has co-written with Elton John, Brian Ferry and Marty Pellow and each year he runs his own song writing events in Italy and other countries. Learn how to write songs from someone who is both hit writer and experienced teacher. 4.30pm-5.30pm Room A

With songs such as ‘Dignity’ ‘Real Gone Kid’ ‘Fergus Sings The Blues’ & ‘Chocolate Girl’ written by Ricky, this seminar is going to be a very special one-off event. 2pm- 3pm
